Melton is beginning to sound a lot like Christmas

With the festivities a little over three weeks away, it’s the perfect time to get in the Christmas spirit. On Saturday, 1 December, the Melton City Council will celebrate the 2018 Carols by Candlelight.

Due to renovations to the Hannah Watts Park, this year’s Carols by Candlelight will be at the Melton Recreation Reserve between 6:30pm-9:30pm.

Invite your family and friends and enjoy the outdoors. Join you neighbours and sing long to some Christmas classics. Santa will also make a special appearance to get the kids ready for the festive season.

1 December also marks the first day of summer. And Melton residents will be lucky to enjoy the Christmas Carols with warmer weather as the day’s highest temperature will hit 30 degrees Celsius.

So don’t miss out on this perfect family occasion. Check out its location.

Buyers snap up latest land release Weir Views

EIG Developments is transforming 57 hectares of land in the new Opalia estate, Weir Views, into an affordable housing hub.

Over the weekend of September 22-23, finally 31 lots ranging in size from 231 square metres to 670 square metres and priced from $155,000 to $420,000, were released to the public.

Opalia Estate manager Shivi Modgil told Star Weekly that 250 people turned out for the land release. Thirty buyers paid a deposit on the day.

“To be honest, the buyers were a mix of [all demographics],” Mr Modgil said. “A lot of first home buyers, residents from the area … investors.”

According to Mr Modgil, the estate will eventually include an $80 million shopping precinct, sports grounds, and land has been earmarked for primary and secondary schools.  The shopping centre will feature major supermarkets and retailers, including Woolworths, Aldi, Chemist Warehouse and McDonalds.

The next land release expected to be within the next six weeks and once complete the estate will comprise of 586 houses.

“We will probably have price increases as we start selling more and more,” Mr Modgil said. “The first couple of releases we wanted to try and make it as affordable as possible.

“So, while we are hoping we can keep the lot prices around the same, we can’t say for sure.”

News is spreading fast about the new suburb Weir Views.

Opalia, earmarked as a new affordable community.

We are so excited to be a part of a new suburb and the heart of Weir Views.

So we are even more excited to be featured in today’s Herald Sun newspaper. An article on why Weir Views is set to become the affordable housing hub.

“BUYERS will be able to snare a piece of one of Melbourne’s newest suburbs for as little as $155,000.

EIG Developments has announced it will transform more than 57ha of dormant land in Weir Views into almost 600 affordable housing lots, a $45 million shopping precinct, and sports grounds.

A government school has also been proposed for the site — formerly part of Melton South — for “well into the future”.

Weir Views was one of 11 new suburbs recently established in the “growth corridor” between Melton and Caroline Springs.

The ‘Opalia’ development would have an end value of about $200 million and form “the heart of Weir Views and a contemporary anchor for Melton”, EIG chief executive George Georgiou said.
